How Long Do Micro Bead Extensions Last?

Micro bead extensions can stay wearable for several weeks, but there is an important catch: the installation still needs maintenance while you are wearing it.
At Auguste Beauty, our beaded weft method is generally maintained every 3 to 4 weeks. Some clients can go 5 to 6 weeks between tightening appointments, depending on their hair texture, growth, and how the installation is holding up. The installation itself may remain wearable for around 6 to 8 weeks, and in some cases longer.
That is why the answer is not simply “eight weeks” or “three months.” There are really two timelines to think about: how long the installation can be worn and how long the extension hair itself remains usable.
If you are considering our Microlink Beaded Weft Extensions, understanding that difference makes maintenance much easier to plan.
Micro Bead Extension Lifespan: Installation vs. Hair Lifespan
The phrase “how long do they last?” can mean two different things.
The first is the lifespan of the installation currently in your hair. The second is the lifespan of the extension hair itself. They are connected, but they are not the same.
How Long the Installation Lasts
With Auguste Beauty’s beaded weft method, the installation is typically wearable for around 6 to 8 weeks. Some clients may be able to wear it for 10 to 14 weeks, depending on their texture, natural hair growth, and upkeep.
That longer range is not something we would treat as a goal. Your hair may need tightening well before then, even if the weft itself is still in good condition.
If you are curious about the actual attachment process, how beaded weft extensions are installed will be covered separately in our installation guide.
How Long the Extension Hair Can Last
The hair may outlast the installation.
If the weft is still in good condition when it is removed, it may be suitable for another installation rather than needing to be replaced immediately. Hair quality and how it has been treated while worn make a big difference here.
So removing or repositioning the extensions does not automatically mean the hair has reached the end of its usable life.
How Often Do Micro Bead Extensions Need Maintenance?
For Auguste Beauty’s beaded weft installations, we normally recommend shampoo maintenance and tightening every 3 to 4 weeks.
Some clients can comfortably stretch that to 5 or 6 weeks. Others may need to come back sooner. Hair growth and texture are part of the reason the schedule varies.
The easiest way to think about it is this: maintenance is not about reaching a certain date on the calendar. It is about keeping the attachment points in the right position as your own hair grows.
Why Do Micro Bead Extensions Need to Be Tightened?
Your natural hair does not stop growing just because extensions are attached to it.
As new growth comes in, the beads gradually move farther away from the scalp. The weft moves with them. Tightening brings those attachment points back into position instead of leaving the installation sitting farther and farther down the hair.
This is also why maintenance and lifespan should not be confused. An extension installation can need tightening even though the hair itself is still perfectly usable.
What Affects How Long Micro Bead Extensions Last?
There is no single factor that decides how long an installation will wear well. A few things matter more than the rest.
Your Natural Hair Growth and Texture
Someone whose hair grows quickly will usually see the attachment points move down sooner. Texture can also affect how the installation settles and how frequently adjustments are needed.
How Consistent You Are With Maintenance
Keeping up with tightening makes a difference.
Waiting well beyond the recommended maintenance window can leave the tracks sitting much farther from their original position. Regular appointments make it easier to adjust the installation as your hair grows rather than waiting until everything needs more attention at once.
How You Care for the Hair
Daily habits matter, but there is no need to turn extension care into a complicated routine.
Be gentle around the attachment areas when washing and styling, and follow the care guidance given for the specific hair you are wearing. The exact routine can vary depending on the hair and installation.
The Condition of the Extension Hair
The weft itself also has a lifespan.
Heat styling, product buildup, tangling, dryness, and ordinary wear can all affect how the hair looks and feels over time. Hair that stays in good condition has a better chance of being reused after the current installation is removed.
How Can You Help Micro Bead Extensions Last Longer?
You do not need a long list of tricks. Most of the difference comes from a few basic habits.
Keep up with your tightening appointments instead of repeatedly pushing them back. Be gentle around the attachment points when washing or styling. And if the installation starts sitting differently as your hair grows, have it checked rather than trying to reposition the beads yourself.
The goal is not to squeeze the maximum possible number of weeks out of an installation. It is to keep the extensions looking and sitting the way they should while you wear them.
Can Micro Bead Extension Hair Be Reused?
In some cases, yes.
If the hair is still in good condition when the installation comes down, it may be suitable for reuse. If it has become very dry, heavily tangled, or worn, reinstalling the same hair may not make sense.
This can also affect the overall micro bead extension cost over time, since reusable hair may not need to be replaced with every new installation. We will cover the full pricing side separately in our cost guide.
The key distinction is simple: needing a new installation does not always mean needing new hair.
When Is It Time for Maintenance or Reinstallation?
You will often notice the position of the installation changing before the hair itself needs replacing.
As your natural hair grows, the attachment points sit farther down from the scalp. The tracks may not sit quite the way they did when they were first installed.
At that point, the answer may be tightening or repositioning rather than starting over with new hair.
This is one reason we would not recommend judging your extensions by the longest wear time you have seen online. Your own growth and the condition of the installation tell you much more than someone else’s timeline.
How Auguste Beauty Approaches Beaded Weft Maintenance
At Auguste Beauty, we usually recommend coming back every 3 to 4 weeks for shampoo maintenance and tightening. Some clients may be able to go 5 to 6 weeks, depending on their texture, growth, and how the installation is wearing.
We would rather adjust the extensions when they need it than tell every client to chase the same maximum wear time.
If you are considering this method, our beaded weft extension service has the current price, hair requirements, appointment details, and booking information.
